EJ&T - 1 and 2 Peter: Gird up the loins of your mind

In the Every Jot and Tittle project, I am listing all of the Bible's commandments from Genesis to Revelation, in accordance with Jesus's words in Matthew 5:18-19. I have no idea how many commandments I'll find, but Jewish tradition claims there are 613. See here for a list of those that I've found so far.

  1. Gird up the loins of your mind.

  17. Husbands, honor your wife.

    Ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, 1 Peter 3:7

  19. Have compassion on one another.

  21. Be pitiful.

  23. Be courteous.

  25. Be ready to explain your beliefs to anyone who asks.
  26. Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. 1 Peter 3:15

  27. Don't be a busybody.
  28. Let none of you suffer ... as a busybody in other men's matters. 1 Peter 4:15

  29. Elders, feed the flock of God.
  30. The elders which are among you I exhort, ... Feed the flock of God ... not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock. 1 Peter 5:2-3

  31. Young people, submit to your elders.
  32. Ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. 1 Peter 5:5

  33. Everyone should be subject to everyone else.
  34. Yea, all of you be subject one to another 1 Peter 5:5

  35. Watch out for the devil.
  36. Be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8

  37. Make sure your calling and election is sure.
  38. Give diligence to make your calling and election sure. 2 Peter 1:10
